Colin's announcement for State Assembly

Colin SchmittFriends:

After much thought and with the kind words and support of so many people living in our community, I have decided to run for the New York State Assembly.
Over the last several weeks, I have received the advice and support of many friends, neighbors and community leaders and I’m proud to have earned the unanimous nomination from both the Orange County Republican Committee and the Stony Point Republican Committee.
This November, our Assembly district will elect a new representative. I believe we deserve a strong voice, someone who will put our communities’ issues and values at the forefront.
I will work day in and day out to earn your support and I will be ready on Day One to serve our community.
As many of you know, my fiancée Nikki and I live in New Windsor, where I serve as Chief of Staff to the town government. I am a member of the Army National Guard and I previously served as Director of Operations for the New York State Senate’s Veterans, Homeland Security and Military Affairs Committee.
I have seen first hand the good that can be achieved by working together for the betterment of our community and state.
Our district stretches across two counties and encompasses 10 towns. There are many diverse concerns and issues that affect us and I am ready to fight for the issues that matter to the hardworking men and women who live in Orange and Rockland counties.

  • I will deliver our fair share from state government to invest in our schools and ease property taxes.
  • I will work to solve the heroin epidemic by focusing on prevention, treatment, recovery and law enforcement
  • I will fight systemic welfare abuse, defend our natural resources and oppose the continued expansion of the Village of Kiryas Joel.
  • I support term limits and will fight for the accountable honest government we deserve.

As your State Assemblyman, I will ensure that no community receives special treatment over another, but that we all have equal treatment, protection and respect to live our lives.
During this campaign, and as your next Assemblyman, my door will always be open to you. It would be a great honor to serve you in the State Assembly and it would be an honor to earn your vote.
