A note from Colin... Thank you!

Things didn't go our way last night. I called my opponent and conceded the race and wished him best of luck representing our district for the next term.

I am so proud of the grassroots campaign we ran. We knew since the beginning taking on an incumbent was an uphill battle.

This year in NY all senate incumbents were re-elected, each congressional seat was held by the incumbent party and there was a near unanimous re-election rate for the Assembly.

Despite the odds we were the closest a challenger came to beating a state legislative incumbent in the entire region! That is impressive! That is thanks to you!

Team Schmitt ran an amazing volunteer driven campaign making tens of thousands of voter contacts, hosting dozens of events and being on the ground running a full district wide campaign effort. All grassroots driven!

I want to specifically thank Nikki, my mother Jill and her husband Joe and my father John, and my sister Hannah for their unwavering support. I want to thank all our grassroots volunteers and supporters. I am greatly appreciative of County Executive Neuhaus and County Clerk Rabbitt and our local leadership who believed in my vision to defend our Hudson Valley values since the beginning.

This election may be over but much work remains to protect the Hudson Valley and turn our state around.

As Winston Churchill once said “Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts.”

I want to personally thank each and every one of my neighbors from all parties who entrusted me with their vote. Thank you for allowing me to knock on your door, attend your events and be part of your lives. As I said during the campaign, win or lose, this is who I am. Proud to be a New Yorker and a local Orange County guy. See you soon!

God bless!
Colin
