NEW WINDSOR – State Assembly candidate Colin Schmitt has gained the endorsement of the Orange County Deputy Sheriffs Police Benevolent Association.

Schmitt, who is challenging incumbent Democrat James Skoufis, will be running in the November election on the Republican and Conservative lines.

In his letter of endorsement to Schmitt, Jeremy Yela, the PBA vice president said he has demonstrated that he is a person of “honesty, integrity, and of sound judgment.” Yela said he is the right candidate for the post given his “experience, knowledge and public service” who would move the 99th Assembly District “forward in hopes of getting New York State back on track.”

Schmitt is a member of the Army National Guard and previously served as director of operations for the State Senate Veterans, Homeland Security and Military Affairs Committee.
