SCHMITT OPPOSES TOLL INCREASES, SENDS LETTER TO NEW YORK STATE BRIDGE AUTHORITY
Assemblyman Colin Schmitt (R,C,I-New Windsor) today sent a letter to the New York State Bridge Authority objecting to news of projected toll increases on the five bridge authority bridges.
Assemblyman Colin Schmitt stated, “I oppose any toll increase and urge the New York State Bridge Authority to fully consider the negative impact these increases will have on so many New Yorkers.
An increase in tolls will have a substantial financial impact on many who already pay too much to travel and commute in our state. It is also well established that once tolls are raised to address a financial need they never will lower again.
Any increase will have a significant negative impact on those who live, work, travel and do business in my district. Alternative solutions must be sought.”
Colin Schmitt is committed to public service. Colin is a member of the U.S. Army National Guard and Assemblyman for the 99th NYS Assembly District which includes the Town of Stony Point in Rockland and The Towns of Wawayanda, Goshen, Hamptonburgh, Chester, Blooming Grove, New Windsor, Cornwall, Highlands and Woodbury.
